Advantages for your Personal Relationships

Increased communication

The majority of us are aware that maintaining frequent communication is one of the most critical aspects of maintaining a successful, long-term relationship. The bond you have with a loved one will quickly degrade if you don't have a steady back and forth of everyday communication, sharing, and emotional support.

Not everything is communicated at a conversational level. To answer effectively and tactfully, we must be mindful of the tone and manner of our partners' remarks. You'll have a considerably higher chance of succeeding if you treat your hearing loss first.

Increased intimacy

Engaging in a quiet, relaxed conversation with your spouse can be one of the most rewarding aspects of your relationship. Unfortunately, when one of them has a hearing problem, that kind of effortless exchange of words is lost. These simple gestures have a tremendous impact on any relationship, from the first whispered "I love you" to a murmured inside joke just for your ears.

More self-reliance

Hearing loss sufferers report regaining their freedom after regaining control of their hearing. This is beneficial to both parties, particularly the person who has to cope with a partner who has hearing loss because they are no longer required to repeat things and speak up only for their partner's benefit.

The individual who has recently regained hearing will appreciate the new sense of independence that hearing provides. Even simple tasks like answering the phone become second nature, erasing self-doubt and restoring a level of confidence only seen before their hearing loss.

Advantages to Your Health

Hearing is accomplished by both the ears and the brain. The brain's processing of audio information remains a critical mechanism for maintaining cognitive health. Only when there is sound to process can parts of the brain stay active and engaged. Hearing loss causes a weakening of parts of the brain that aren't being used, resulting in atrophy over time. Under-stimulation and degradation can lead to cognitive impairment and possibly dementia. Hearing treatment can help you re-establish missing sound pathways in your brain, allowing you to use those portions of your brain again.

The improved hearing also allows the wearer to be more socially active, enhancing the quality of life and allowing the individual to stay in touch with the people that matter to them.

Advantages for your Career

Most modern businesses rely on tight-knit teams to accomplish the appropriate results and meet company objectives. Employees must be able to communicate regularly on several channels for this to work successfully.

Communication breakdown happens when an individual finds it impossible to sustain this level of communication, whether face-to-face or over the phone. As a result, the quality of work suffers, lowering the quality of the individual's work. This has a knock-on effect on the earning power of those with hearing loss.

Sergei Kochkin, Ph.D., executive director of the Better Hearing Institute, demonstrated this phenomenon. He conducted a study that looked at the average pay of three groups of people: those with hearing aids (about 1,800), untreated hearing loss, and regular hearing. To properly establish the effect of each level of hearing loss on earnings, the severity of hearing loss was divided into ten categories.

The outcome was decisive. Compared to those who do not have hearing loss, those with the mildest hearing loss see essentially no wage reduction. However, as the severity of hearing loss grows, average salaries decrease. Unfortunately, this means that those with the most severe hearing loss can expect to earn up to $30,000 less per year than those who can hear well. It follows that when treating hearing loss, you can mitigate this loss in earnings.

As you can see from this list of benefits, you could reap a slew of benefits for years to come by treating your hearing loss!
